A customer has requested we build a custom entrance door for their new home. The complete unit will consist of 2-15″ sidelites and a 36″ door. The overall dimensions are 72″ in width & 90″ in height with a 6″ arched radius spanning the entire length. We will use Spanish cedar for all the wood components. Glass will be used in the sidelights above a small panel. We will etch fleur dis leis into the glass as requested.
The first picture is the cad rendering of the door.
The following pictures depict various stages of the jamb during construction.
The jamb was 6- 9/16″ wide. We cut components to match the radius of the top jamb and assembled using glue & dowels.
We then ripped the corresponding sides to match the width of the top jamb. We made our threshold 7 1/4″ in width …the extra width will accommadate the brick mold casing that will be applied after the jamb is assembled.
The next picture is the completed jamb with sidelights installed.
